With longer life expectancy and more retirees than ever, understanding Medicare — and what it does not cover — is essential. Original Medicare (Parts A and B) offers important benefits, but it may leave gaps that can result in unexpected costs. That’s where Medicare Supplement (Medigap) or Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans come in, helping to fill those gaps and provide additional coverage.
Navigating the different parts of Medicare can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make it simple and stress-free.
Medicare Basics
Part A – Hospital coverage (inpatient care).
Part B – Doctor visits and outpatient services.
Parts A + B = Original Medicare.
Part D – Prescription drug coverage.
Part C (Medicare Advantage) – Combines Parts A, B, and often D, plus extras like dental, vision, and wellness programs.
Tip: You must be enrolled in Parts A and B to qualify for Medicare Advantage (Part C). These plans often have lower out-of-pocket costs but may require in-network providers.
